Damp does not only enter a property thorough it's mortar joints, it can also soak in through it's porous building materials.

Various treatments are now available which prevent rain penetrating through brick or stone. Once applied, however, the water-repellent barrier should still allow the surface to 'breathe' and avoid trapping damp in the wall.

Gun-point utilises the latest silane-siloxane technology in this respect. With proven advantages over older systems it is also colourless and transparent and does not change the look of the property.

Because damp materials conduct heat more quickly, this treatment improves heat insulation by keeping the building drier. It also reduces the chance of spalling (due to frost attack) and efflorescence, and protects the property from both acid rain and atmospheric grime so newly cleaned and re-pointed buildings stay cleaner longer.

The benefits of this treatment usually far outweigh the small extra cost involved.
